The #1 reason to join the PTA is to support your child and your child’s school community. Stevens Creek PTA supports our families from ‘Welcome’ at the Kindergarten Orientation to ‘Farewell’ at the Fifth Grade Celebration and
all the Field Trips, Book Fairs, Family Fun Nights, Grandparents/VIP Day, and Water Carnivals in between. Joining PTA is a significant contribution to our school community. Becoming a member does not require you to volunteer at PTA events, but if you have the time to spare, we gladly welcome your participation. Feel free to

Who can join the PTA?
PTA is not strictly for the parents of children that attend Stevens Creek Elementary. Relatives, teachers and neighbors are all welcome and encouraged to join our non-profit organization.
We hope you feel called to help us in any way you can but you do not have to attend meetings and no volunteer hours are required).

Membership Myth-busters
There are four major misconceptions about PTA membership. These falsehoods often prevent parents from joining an association that helps our children.

Myth #1: “Only moms and teachers need to join PTA.”
A strong, vibrant PTA needs the support of moms and dads, step-parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, teachers and school staff, community members, and business leaders. Anyone who cares about children belongs in PTA. It is important that we all have a voice in the decision-making process relating to the laws and regulations – whether in the schools or government – that affect children.

Myth #2: “Joining PTA means I have to volunteer.”
You do not have to volunteer to be a member of PTA! PTA appreciates everyone’s membership, whether or not a member volunteers, because each member increases PTA’s ability to advocate for children.

Myth #3: “PTA membership never expires – I only have to join once.”
Each new school year begins a new PTA membership year. Membership cards are issued to each member who joins PTA as soon as dues are paid. Membership cards are for an annual membership and will remain valid until the end of the school year.

Myth #4: “I don’t have the time to join PTA.”
We understand your time is valuable. However, it’s your interest in children that counts. If you are not able to support the PTA with time, please become a member and give your financial support so that the children know that you support our efforts. You will have the satisfaction of knowing that your support helps as we develop programs and activities that benefit not only your children, but all children.
